Very classy gesture by Howard to not celebrate as a nod of respect to his opposite number, especially considering that was only the 4th time in EPL history that a goalie had scored.
The guy I feel sorry for is the opposing goal tender. From his point of view, he might as well have been hit between the eyes by a meteorite. And he's probably going to get razzed about that one getting past him for the rest of his career.
I don't think that was defendable. It goes in at the top of the goal. What could he have done. Unless there happened to be someone at the point it bounced, there was nothing anyone could do.
It could topple the ESPN top plays best of the best. Which is currently the leap into the endzone.
After seeing this, I went and watched the game feed for this goal. The announcers were really sympathetic to the keeper who let in that ball. The winds were wild and they picked up the ball in flight and it soared over the guy's head. The announcers also noted that the keeper who scored didn't do any victory dances. He was quite the sportsman.
