Today's Word Problem

Math. The nation's children are getting worse and worse at it. It's a crisis and something's got to be done. Well, far be it from me to stand idle when a need arises. Instead, I shall scurry forth to help solve this vexing problem.

Today we start a new, intermittent series called "Today's Word Problem". In it, we shall pose a word problem to you readers and give you chance to answer it in the comments so that you may exercise your math skills and then impart them to nearby children. It's viral education, if you will.

On with the show.

Today's Word Problem

Jane is an accomplished swimmer. She is trying to swim from Long Beach to Catalina, a distance of 27.75 miles. In her first three hours, she averages a speed of 5.6 miles per hour. Given she has a terrible sense of direction, what kind of animal eventually eats her?

Giant mutant Bees. You see, her terrible sense of direction gets her lost near Hollywood, where she is mistakenly picked up by the Nautilus in the Rob Zombie remake of Mysterious Island.

Penguins.

See her terrible sense of direction makes her swim north.
