Thursday 13, WOG and Seeds Edition

1. I know it’s been covered on tons of other sites, but Zarqawi is dead! Hurrah!

2. I woke up this morning at 4AM when the fire alarm in my house went off. It turns out that the thing is sensitive to moisture in the air. It’s a foggy morning and I had the windows open. In essence, my fire alarm panicked because it saw water.

3. I think my fire alarm needs professional help.

4. Are there support groups for fire alarms?

5. While composing my World of Good post yesterday, I came across a quote from a Catholic bishop who had spent years working with the poor on Skid Row in Los Angeles. “One may not be able to respond to the many problems in peoples’ lives, but one can be with them in their sufferings and joys”.

6. That gave me a whole new look on charity for homeless drunks and addicts. Bishop Steinbock saw a calling in simply being there with these people during their pain so that they did not suffer alone. I thought it was pretty profound.

7. Crash positions! Major topic shift coming!

8. Starbucks is entirely too difficult to patronize. It takes forever. In the time it takes to stand in line to order and then wait for the coffee, you could have made one at home and watched a good portion of Sports Center.

9. The cost is preposterous. It’s boiled water poured over ground seeds.

10. I wonder if I can plant my yard entirely from plants I grow from seed.

11. I’ve decided to use gaura lindheimeri in front of my retaining wall in my front yard.

12. The Western Garden Book says it has a tendency to over propagate by seed. I wonder if you can buy gaura seeds?

13. Yes you can!

Your fire alarm definitely has an identity crisis! I'm sure it's funnier reading about it than it was at 4 a.m. :)

You're right! Falling in line just for a cup of coffee which you can easily prepare at home and with your comfort is just preposterous.
My T13 is up.

I could be the good corporate wife and stand up for Starbucks, but I'll pass this time. I very rarely buy just a cup of coffee there anyway. Though, write a letter and complain about the wait time if its really bad. It should be no more than 3 minutes (by company standards)

Ok, I'll stop now...Thanks for stopping by my 13!

Great list! I agree with the fact that Starbucks takes way too long. The problem with making coffee at home, is you can't sneak the crack in it like they do. ;)

You made me laugh. I didn't know that fire alarms can have panic attacks - too funny.
I like the seeds you have posted about, but nothing grows here in the summer - why to hot :).
Thanks for stopping by this morning.

your alarm needs professional help. Now! I liked your nr 5, it makes a lot of sense. Blogger was driving us nuts yesterday (and the day before, and before...), you can delete your own comments if you'd rather, it doesn't bother me! have a happy day, at least I can comment today!

Not a starbucks fan here. I would change the batteries- sleep is too precious. As for the guilt trip- that happens on the bus on the way home after everyone realizes how much they spent at the quilt show. Thanks for stopping by. Be Blessed

Growing up I was taught (and truly believed...) "that beggar in the street could be Jesus in disguise" (that he could take human form to test us...) which is why, I always thought, "there but for the grace of God, goes me", or homeless are people too.
