World of Good Blogburst, Skid Row Style

Welcome to another World of Good (WOG) entry here at The Scratching Post. This is a meditative entry best given with little introduction.

“Ministry...is simply being with people, caring for people, sharing their lives, their sorrows and their joys, loving the people. It is a ministry of presence. Sometimes you can help, and sometimes you can’t. One may not be able to respond to the many problems in peoples’ lives, but one can be with them in their sufferings and joys...so that they understand that the Lord Jesus is with them, loving them, suffering with them….”
- Bishop John Steinbock who ministered for 21 years on Skid Row and East Los Angeles.

He wrote a book of anecdotes from Skid Row. Proceeds from the sale of the book will be given to Catholic Charities.

Joe at A Tic in the Mind's Eye has his WOG post up.

May God help the homeless folks and street people in the US and throughout the world. And may we remember that as part of the Body of Christ we are His hands and feet and friendly smile and warm voice.

God bless!
