I just downloaded and installed Windows Live in an attempt to find a nice desktop publishing platform for the blog. I've been wanting to do this so I can insert photos and wrap text around them more easily than having to edit the raw html in blogger. The Official Artist of the Feline Theocracy has been recommending LiveWriter for quite a while, so I figured I'd try it out.
What better picture to play with than one of Momma Daisy's daughters?
Ooh! The formatting works very well indeed and LiveWriter allows me to resize the photo by dragging the anchor points in the editor. Very nice and very intuitive!
There seem to be all manner of other tools associated with Windows Live that I'll explore in the coming days. As I do, I'll post the information as well as my Windows Live contact data so we can play with the IM parts of the product as well as photo and video sharing.
I like it. I like it a lot already.
Update: What happens to you when you click on the picture? When I do it, my PC wants to open the image with Corel Photopaint rather than Internet Explorer. I've seen that from time to time on other sites and I don't get it.

When I click on the photo, it downloads, and then opens in Preview.
Here's a fun site for ya, KT http://agora.org.mk/goodbytes/char/?s=9701 . It has the code for all kinds of nifty little symbols... yin yang ☯ phone symbol ☎ scissors ✂
Totally cool, Rose! Thanks!
It's an issue with blogger/picasa. Something with how they handle uploaded images from Live Writer.
On a mac using firefox, it asks for me to choose an application to view the image, downloads the image, and then opens it up. So its treating it as a download rather than an image.
Thanks, all. I'm going to play with the html and see if it makes a difference. I really don't get it.
I saw something on the WLW forums a while back but I couldn't find it.
Normally I just disabled the link.
In comparing the html produced by the two products, blogger and livewriter, there are a couple of differences. In the case of blogger, there is this code:
alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5150931768864525570"
and there is also this code:
style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;"
to be found in the img tag. When I get a few minutes, I'll play around with those.
I don't know tons of HTML, but I can tell you for certain that the coding of the link tag has nothing to do with it.
