I like chick bubblegum music.
There! I said it! It's out now and I feel so much better.
When I need a pick me up, sometimes I turn to ZoeGirl, Britt Nicole, Mandisa or even (gasp!) Jamie Grace. In my pre-Jesus Music days, I liked the Go-Gos, the Bangles and bands like that. Not exclusively, mind you, it gets tiresome after a bit, but any good mix has to have some chick bubblegum in it. You need to add in Van Halen, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Benny Goodman, Dixieland jazz and Confederate Railroad as well ... OK, not all in the same mix, that would be eclectic to an insane degree, but I think you get the idea,
And yes, I know the music was written for 11-year-old girls. So sue me.
And you? What horrible music do you like?
You bet I'm dead serious.

I told you not to post this.
Oh, give it a rest!
*sob* You should have listened to the Hamster; I've lost all respect for you. *sob*
Now, it's true the chick bublegum isn't nearly as bad as rap or death-metal, but it *is* bad.
I happen to know he owns, or owned an album from a band called Precious Metal. A girl heavy metal group. Truly awful.
Probably the the worst thing I bought would have been Chris DeBurgh. Bought the album for Don't Pay the Ferryman, and every thing else on the album was awful.
There were a few albums like that in the 80s. One 'hit' wonders with complete dreck for the rest of the album.
I admit I liked the Bangles and Go-goes back then, and will still listen to them today. But I never bought the album.
As to Jesus music, I worked the tech booth for a concert at our church a week ago. CD release party for the band, really good stuff.

Abba (and consequently the stage production of Momma Mia - the movie was ruined by the fact that Pierce Brosnan couldn't carry a tune in bucket, although putting abucket over his head would have improved it). Oh, and I shouldn't admit this, all those Beegees disco hits.
Bee Gees? Horrible. I've got a friend who routinely puts on a Michael Jackson mix when we come over. Barf-o-rama.
Abba? Yeah, another guilty pleasure.
Oh, now! Abba is simply a pleasure, no guilt involved. And the BeeGees were ok, too.
The Bee Gees are a war crime in my book.
:-)
I thought I posted something about folk metal. Not bad -- until someone starts to "sing." It's not singing so much as is flaying one's vocal cords, slowly and painfully in front of a microphone.
But some of the music backing it up is quite nice!
