A very good friend of mine of Facebook posted that she absolutely loved President Obama's inaugural address. It was so full of compassion and togetherness. A friend or relative of hers came back with what I would have said - where are we going to get the money? She responded, "We'll find the money somewhere." When he came back yet again with the examples of Greece and Spain, she didn't budge.
That we cared mattered more than whether or not we could.
If we want to change minds about this whole thing, we're going to have to show that the mammoth nanny state is destructive to individuals.

My dog was a warm loving creature, who sometimes suprised me with insight. However, animals do not use reason as a guide.
Cats, on the other hand...
:-)
Playing around with the idea of using an animal hoarder as an analogy for this sort of attitude. They take in strays out of compassion for the poor dears, but they can't see that trying to care for so many, they can't take good care of any.
Nice analogy! To take it a step further, if you take in the cats indicriminately and make no demands on their behavior, in no time at all, you've got a cadre of uncivilized beasts that are teaching the rest to behave in the same way.
When you disconnect your ideas from reality, you have unrealizable dreams. And irrational emotions.
Shane Atwell FTW!
Just looked up the definition of FTW and found two very different ones. I was referring to For The Win! :-)
The other FTW is what Obama and the other socialists are trying to do.
