Silliness in a Time of War

A few posts ago, I tried to engage the author of the left-wing blog, Zaius Nation, in a conversation. He regularly posts anti-Bush cartoons but doesn't seem to object to the Islamofascist terrorists. In essence, I was asking him for his working definition of evil. Could he differentiate between Americans protecting Iraqi civilians and Islamofascist terrorists trying to blow them up? After one long comment on the first post, he stuck his fingers in his ears and scampered off. Here's his most recent post.

While you contemplate Dick Cheney as a global domination madman, read this nice quote from the Acting Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council, Sheik Ahmad Bahr.

Oh Allah, vanquish the Jews and their supporters. Oh Allah, vanquish the Americans and their supporters. Oh Allah, count their numbers, and kill them all, down to the very last one. Oh Allah, show them a day of darkness. Oh Allah, who sent down His Book, the mover of the clouds, who defeated the enemies of the Prophet – defeat the Jews and the Americans, and bring us victory over them.
I could substitute in a quote from any number of Iranian government officials or European Imams and get the same thing. I could change the date of the quote to pre-Iraqi invasion and get the same thing.

The Islamofascists set off car bombs in crowded markets, blowing innocents into tiny bits. American soldiers sacrifice themselves to bring democracy to the Middle East for the first time. Meanwhile, in the middle of global war, the Left draws funny cartoons of Dick Cheney.

Some people are serious. Some people are not.

Forget politics entirely - Why are you continually try to get me to post comments on your blog? I have no interest in you blog. It is as if you are stalking me. Do you you understand that I feel that your behavior is both antagonistic and irrational? Like a stalker?

You do not post comments on my blog or write me an email to start a conversation, or do anything in a normal fashion. If you won't post on my blog, why should I feel compelled to post on yours? I feel that you merely try to capitalize your own website through mine. You stated:

"A few posts ago, I tried to engage the author of the left-wing blog, Zaius Nation, in a conversation."

Where did you do this? On my blog? My email? No - your blog. Why should I feel compelled to visit your blog? Because you say so? Because you command me to do so? Like a stalker would do?

If that was you motive, to engage in a conversation, why not post comments on my blog, or send me an email?

I don't understand why you think it is even close to normal to do these things. Politics aside, this really bothered me - You used the fine men and women of our armed services as a cheap political tool to attempt to try to get me to respond to you. Before you call foul, I quote you as saying:

"I suppose I can look forward to a nasty editorial cartoon about the folks in that video. Or haven’t we gotten to that point yet?"

You said this regarding the video on your blog of our men and women in Iraq. How dare you use our men and women in uniform in such a way for such a foolish purpose. That is not a political statement on my part. I felt that your actions cheapened their struggle.

Second, I did not give you permission to use any of the images on my website. You don't feel that you are compelled in any way to even ask to use the images on my site. Does that mean that I can use any of the image on your site for anything I want to do? Not that I would want to - but is that what you are saying? That that would be morally right? Or is it only morally right for you to do it?

If you want to have a conversation, there are ways of doing it that are not such obvious attempts to grab attention for yourself. Email me, or comment on my blog, like any normal person. But perhaps that was not your intent, is it? Explain your intent. No politics please!

Explain yourself, explain why I should even want to talk to you. That should not seem to be an unreasonable request on my part. why should I even want to talk to you? After what you have already said?

Can you answer this post in a rational way that is not involve politics, and explains your actions? Can you? Or are you just trying to get my goat? Sorry, I really am not bothered greatly by what you have written.

I removed the graphic.

Here's a quick answer, Dr.

My colleagues and I work very hard to protect you. Some of us get hurt and die in the process. We even do it so you can post cartoons of Dick Cheney taking over the world.

You know he can't do that alone and that by implication, some of us are helping him "take over the world".

You also know that we work very hard to minimize collateral damage to civilians. You also know the enemy fills cars with C4 and nails and ball bearings and drives them into markets to set them off.

You also know we have medical teams in the countryside bringing basic health care to the population and that the Army Corps of Engineers and Seabees work their tails off every day to rebuild the Iraqi infrastructure. You know that the enemy tries to destroy it.

We bring lights and hospitals and schools. They blow them up.

We work hard to find technical and operational counters to people who stick 155mm shells in dead animals and blow them up on the side of the road not caring who they kill.

You knew that already. And you know what the purple finger in Iraq symbolizes. You knew that we all work very hard to protect that symbol and what it represents.

And yet, despite all that you know, you implicate all of us working to bring the peace and freedom of a liberal democracy to a benighted land as warmongers, global dominators or idiots.

That's not a very nice thing to do.

I wanted to see if I could engage you in a conversation. I could not.

While you go back to drawing silly pictures of President Bush with fangs, my friends and I will be working on improving our C4ISR systems to prevent car bombs and IED attacks on schools and markets. Some of those same people you saw in the Mosul kids video will be doing just that. Those are the ones that volunteered to carry out the orders of that guy who is lighting the barrel of explosives on your cute little picture. They even re-enlisted to do so.

Like I said, some of us are serious.

Actually, Dr. Zaius, the shortest answer is this. We're all volunteers in the DoD. All of us. We know it's Chimpy McBushHitler in command, too and we keep going to work every day.

Your cartoons slander all of us. My responses have been about 1/10 as caustic as they normally would be because I wanted to see if you had a functioning definition of evil.

dr. zaius is not a normal rational person - it feels like he is from somewhere else, not the US. Irrational from the start of that comment, somewhat broken english, very amped up... weird

Wow, that's your whole message? Really? I'm underwhelmed. You merely state that you feel superior to me, and that you think that I am morally reprehensible. That is not really much of message, if you ask me.

These are the questions that you did not answer:
--------
"Do you understand that I feel that your behavior is both antagonistic and irrational? Like a stalker?"
--------
"Why should I feel compelled to visit your blog? Because you say so? Because you command me to do so? Like a stalker would do?"
--------
"Politics aside, this really bothered me - You used the fine men and women of our armed services as a cheap political tool to attempt to try to get me to respond to you. Before you call foul, I quote you as saying:"

"'I suppose I can look forward to a nasty editorial cartoon about the folks in that video. Or haven’t we gotten to that point yet?'"

You are saying that you are usually 90% more crazy that you have already been acting? Once again, why exactly should I even want to talk to you?
