How to handle this? Well, as Andy over at Patience Corners noted,
I am told that mountain climbers will occasionally put themselves into positions where the only way they can go is up. "When the only way you can go is up," I read, "you jolly well go up."All the wires are coming out and I'm redoing the connectors. There will be no turning back now.
Update: Glorious success! I'm replacing all connections with either molex pin connectors or spade connectors and I just got my tail lights to light up using a 12V power supply and the new connectors. I know it's like proving that gravity still exists, but it's heartening nonetheless.

Wow, that's a big step. If your going that far,. you might think about replacing the fuse box as well. Putting in a 8 fuse box with blade fuses.
Definately, put in relays for the headlights. That was great thing for me.
Yeah, I'm dumping all of the in-line fuses and going with a bigger fusebox with modern dagger fuses. (I think that's what they're called.)
I'll text you about the relays for the headlights because I don't understand that one. The wiring on the car is simple enough to redesign it, so as I go along, I'm finding that none of this is risky, it's just a matter of turning on the tunes in the Catican and doing the job.
I believe everyone ought to browse on it.
