World of Good, Amoro Style

Welcome to another installment of the World of Good (WOG) here at The Scratching Post. I think you'll enjoy this one.

Ah, to be young and rich. Imagine being a millionaire in your mid-20s. Your life is before you, you're athletic, charming, well-spoken, you've got it all. What would you do with such a marvellous cornucopia of possibilities in front of you? Buy a big house? Go on cruises? Travel to the South Pacific? Hit the night clubs with a little bling bling on your hands and a honey or two on your arm?

How about if you set up a corporation to help the less fortunate start their own businesses and own their own homes?

Meet Ephren Taylor, self-made millionaire. When he was a boy, his folks told him that if he wanted any more than the handful of video games they bought for him, he'd have to make them himself. And so he did. He taught himself programming and went on from there to make video games and then developed a job search engine for high schoolers that was later bought out by another firm. Rather than blow that windfall of cash on parties, cars, boats and mansions, he started Amoro Corporation. Here's how Investor Marketplace describes Amoro.
Amoro Corporation, Inc. (AmoroCorp: AORO) is a public development group dedicated to “Empowering Communities With Socially Conscious Development." The company focuses on creating affordable housing for homeowners, especially in urban environments.

The AmoroCorp team represents over 225 years of expertise in construction, development, marketing, investing, legal, accounting, and other key areas. This “Total Team” Support results in some of the highest efficiencies and highest rates of return in the industry.
To be fair, I checked into Amoro a bit and discovered that they were a penny stock and I am in no way making any investment recommendations here. While they're not in the same league as Home Depot or Citibank, their small size doesn't detract from their big heart. Ephren Taylor is using the fruits of his labor to help others. Here's a bit more on Mr. Taylor from a recent interview.

He is a very impressive young man. I don't think that I would have made the same choices with the same opportunities at that age. I probably would have indulged myself a great deal more than he did. Instead, he's using his profits to do a World of Good.

Mr. Taylor has also written a book, Creating Success from the Inside Out: Develop the Focus and Strategy to Uncover the Life You Want. It might be worth a look.
