A Trillion Here, a Trillion There

... and pretty soon you're talking real money.
A group of Democratic governors warned Friday that without as much as $1 trillion in federal assistance, many states will not be able to pay their bills in the next year ... The group has presented its plan to the transition team and congressional leaders. The New Jersey governor said both have been receptive to the idea.
I give up.

What gets me is how suddenly all the woe and misery appeared. All year things were just wonderful, except for the odd presidential candidate that told us everything was awful, but that was more about W than any specific issue.

Right about the time the Dear Leader was annointed we started to hear bad numbers. Sure, congress kept telling us that nothing was wrong, but all the papers started telling us that the world was minutes from ending, and investment bankers were running themselves over with their Lexuses (Lexi?).

The sudden pessimism is even stranger when you consider that the Dear Leader will save us from all maladies. DC's mayor was quoted yesterday saying that DC will now get proper attention from the Feds because the Dear Leader will actually look around him and lay his hands on the people (hey Fenty -- Barry's been in DC for two or three years already. What's he done for you?).

Time to start printing handbills to put on the cars with Obama stickers -- "The Dear Leader has determined that your automobile does not meet new Environmental Enlightenment standards. You must immediately recycle this car and buy an electric vehicle (if you can find one). Praise Obama! Yes we can!"
