Yo, Portland Police! Remember, you gotta do my homework tonight! |
- What kind of people would stay on the police force?
- What kind of people would willingly join it?
- What resident has any faith in their ability to protect him or her?
- What happens if the "protesters" don't allow the fire trucks to pass unhindered? See also: My post on B-17s without fighter escort.
There is a fire near the 800 block of SW 3rd Avenue. We are advising the crowd to get out of the street so @PDXFire can respond. Please stop throwing projectiles at officers who are trying to assist with this operation.

Some demonstrators have locked the doors from the outside of the Justice Center and are lighting fires on 2nd Avenue. They are also tampering with the roll up doors of the Justice Center on 2nd Avenue. This is a life safety issue. Remove the items now!

Some individuals are tying cables and other items to the doors and fire hydrant. This presents a life safety issue for emergency ingress and egress.

The front door to Central Precinct was locked from the outside with the u-lock. It had to be cut off from the outside so those inside could leave. The rope was taken by protesters from the flag pole and tied to the roll-up doors on the Southeast corner of the building. pic.twitter.com/G97woNOh0j

Exit Question: Since regaining permanent control of the city from the "protesters" will require a display of superior force, how and when will this happen?

This reminded me of those parents who try to reason with 3 year olds. I decided to look up "parenting styles" and see what the web says about them (and the outcomes). This site defines 4 styles. Authoritarian, Authoritative, Permissive, and Uninvolved (decreasing level of parental control and expectations). Cut to the chase: While Permissive is probably better than Authoritarian, Authoritative is the best, and Uninvolved often can border on neglect. The Portland (and Seattle and...) Police are displaying a Permissive parenting behavior. This does not work out well. Sure abuse and butality (Authoritarian) is worse, but there is still the optimal choice of Authoritative.
We are, I'm afraid, seeing the outcome when so many parents refuse to be parents to their children. I hope it isn't too late for society as a whole, and to have our "leaders" grow a spine and be willing to be Authoritative.
The lefty maniacs locked the Police doors from the outside.
The lefty maniacs like to set things on fire.
You do the math.
These are the same people that think a four year old should be able to decide his or her gender.
You, anon, are clearly a science denier that likes to deny science.
I was looking for my Deadpool "you sound crazy" meme, but this'll have to do:
