Exxon is bad, Apple is Good

...oh, really? Exxon's profit margin is 10%. Apple's profit margin is 16.5%. Note also that Exxon's tax rate is 40% and Apple's is only 32%. Someone's not paying their fair share.

Apple is cool. Exxon is not cool.

When will we see a massive outcry about Apple's price-gouging, consumer-robbing, grossly unfair, excess profits? How about never? After all, Apple is cool.

Same way I've had far, far, FAR more trouble with Apple programs than with Microsoft's-- yet folks complain constantly about the latter and embrace the former.

The day that a decent replacement for iTunes comes out, I'm getting rid of that resource-grabbing monster.

(Notice: I really want to make a post on how this shows the childish {in a bad way} nature of those attacking various folks, but I'm tired of fighting today.)

I'm actually bi-lingual when it comes to computer platforms, though I am writing from a MacBook right now :). But I use a PC laptop with Windows quite often as well.

Exxon, on the other hand, will just never be cool. People like their iPods and Macs. But no one really "likes" the products and services Exxon produces, even if it is difficult to live without them. It is also much older, and the perception is that is run by old men (whether or not that's actually true is another story). Exxon and its industry are closely associated with political and environmental problems in the world. Apple hasn't had an "Exxon Valdez" accident yet. Though they are starting to get some pressure on the how toxic some of their products are.
