How is that a bad thing?
Sarah and her family are actual working Americans. Unlike President Obama who was marinated in airheaded academia or George W. Bush who grew up in wealth and prestige, the Palins are just like us. Again, why is that a bad thing? Where have the vapid intellectuals and the inside-the-Beltway folks led us? What indication is there that they know anything at all? I would be far more confident in our future with a fishing company owner in the White House than a community organizer.
Can you live without food? No. Sarah Palin and her family were doing something useful. Can you live without a community organizer? Yes. Barack Obama was a parasite. But somehow we're supposed to think that she was the one who was unqualified and he was the type we wanted?
Is there some level of management above which experience in the real world doesn't count any more? Why do we want a shrewd businessman running the company we work for, but a useless dork like Joe Biden as our senator? Would you want Joe Biden running your local Home Depot? He's government leadership quality material and Sarah Palin isn't?
Please. We need more Sarah Palins and less professional politicians.
Update: Over at sisu, there's a great piece on Governor Palin.
Meanwhile, stuck in their anti-Palin Pauline-Kael bubbles, national political reporters continue to miss the point.Update 2: Victor Davis Hanson knocks it out of the park.
I saw more stupid people in graduate school and three decades in academia than I ever did who ran 100 acres without going broke — and more of the latter whom I’d trust not to bankrupt the country and let down our defenses than of the former.

Thanks for the link! I had just posted a tweet re the first half of your post before I saw the magic words, "Over at sisu" . . . :-)
It is a little scary how Sarah Palin has seized control; but I'm a victim, myself; it hit me like a brick in the head; Sarah Palin is presidential; she is adorable; and adorable is wonderful, compared to this hitchhiker we have now; I would like for her to speak on the lunacy of the day to day decisions by our UFO president;we need to know she can handle mid-east and other issues; thanx
Another great column on Sarah from a Canadian no less, David Warren, he's one of my favourite writers.
Who'd you rather be governed by?
I love this thought "I'd rather entrust the government of the United States to the first 400 people listed in the Boston telephone directory than to the faculty of Harvard University."
William F. Buckley (reference).
William F. Buckley was frequently acerbic and never in doubt - for good reason. I didn't go to Harvard, thank goodness, but I dated someone who had done so back in the day. What a driveling idiot, he was.
Yeah, intellectuals suck. We should have some sort of revolution, and ship those idiots out to the countryside where they can do work like regular people. I think that's been tried already though... yeah, it was the Cultural Revolution, in China. That turned out well.
Funny how dictators hate intellectuals. Stalin hated them, Hitler hated them, Mao hated them. You guys are in good company.
As for VDH, how many intellectuals did he meet and how many farmers did he meet? Considering how many intellectuals he would have met after 30 years in academia, no wonder he met his share of idiots. Birds of a feather, and all that...
As for Buckley, what the heck did he do for a living? He was nothing more than one of those pointy-headed intellectuals. But he was one of YOUR intellectuals, so I guess that made him a useful idiot.
