What Flight Reveals

... and by "flight" I mean fleeing. Dig this.

Justin Trudeau and his family flee the Canadian capital for a secret location amid security concerns as 50,000 anti-vaccine mandate 'Freedom Convoy' truckers march days after being dismissed as a 'small fringe minority'.

At the risk of using a cliché, this is real banana republic stuff. The dictator discovers his power isn't as great as he'd thought, so when the enraged peasants show up, he runs away.

Trudeau's miscalculation is the same as the woke tyrants here in the US. There are more ways to communicate than voting and posting on social media. If you don't have a brutal security apparatus to enforce your edicts, but you behave like you do, eventually those communications channels will be used. Like this.

When his secret police collapsed, Romanian, socialist dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu's tyrannical demands lost their power. Nicky ended up in front of a firing squad, still barking orders to the peasants who completely ignored them. It's the same scene in Canada and parts of the US, only without the firing squad.

If you're planning on telling everyone what to do about nearly everything in their lives, you will eventually need a whole bunch of devoted thugs. If you can't beat and imprison people like these uppity truckers when they defy you, then flight becomes your only option.

These flights never end well.

  1. I'm glad you seem to have changed your mind on the truckers' protest being a waste of time. A year and a half late maybe. It's all quite inspiring and coming from Canada and in the midwinter dire cold, triply so.

  2. ligneus, yesterday's post was pretty unclear and I knew it when I wrote it.

My point then was that opposing it was a waste of time from the government's point of view. The government's primary and perhaps sole purpose right now should be getting the economy functioning normally ASAP. If doing that means ditching all the mandates, then they should do it immediately.

Fighting the truckers is the waste of time. The fact that the truckers had to stop their useful work and drive to freaking Ottawa to get the tyrants to back off is the waste of time.

  3. Your title yesterday was confusing. As I read the post, the dissonance in my head as I was comparing the title's apparent meaning and the clear meaning of what you wrote made me re-read several sentences. Looking back at it, it made the meaning even more clear. Yes, all of this is a huge waste of everybody's time (and energy and money). Want to know what should be happenning? Just look at Denmark. Tomorrow (actually just about 2 and a half hours from now as I type this) the pandemic is officially over (and CoViD endemic state is reached).

This is the reality, no matter how hard the tyrants try to hold on to their ill-gotten power or claim that it isn't. Look even Goober Newsome knows it, not that he'll admit it. There are photos of him and Magic Johnson's non-mask covered faces smiling at the camera at yesterday's NFC Championship game, despite the fact that he is still imposing a 'mask mandate' in California (set to expire on Feb 15 - anybody wanna bet on that?). It has devolved so far into kubuki theater that even the LA Times covered it (https://www.latimes.kcom/california/story/2022-01-31/newsom-garcetti-slammed-for-maskless-photos-at-rams-49ers-game).

  4. When Canada Re-elected Trudeau was when I felt my lowest and that the world was lost to the woke. By every measure, Trudeau is a failure. How could so many chose to vote for him. I wasn't as concerned with the US election, a Star Chamber vs an a**hole, we were doomed either way.

Unfortunately, some in the truckers contingent screwed up very badly and cast a very bad light on their cause. Desecrating the tomb of the unknown soldier is unconscionable.

  5. I don't think the "desecration" was really desecration. Dig this.

  6. So there I go just listening to headlines. I watched that video and a few more, and read a few articles.
    3 things happened sounds like.
    1) parking on the steps. What kind of idiot does that? Apparently, they moved them right away. Me being a jack-boot-billy-club sort (that's sarcasm), would have wanted to put boots on the tires and have a tow truck haul them away immediately, but that's just me.
    2) putting a Canadian flag on Terry Fox and ading a seditious sign with such horrible, dangerous suggestion as "mandate freedom". Having the flag upside down is the closest thing to disrespect. But an upside down flag is a message saying that you are in dire distress. Aka a life or death situation. It is illegal in the US, with that exception. While our countries are in distress by the woke, it is hardly dire. The video you linked and especially the Tic-Toc guy got the Terry statue situation mostly right.
    3) Dancing on the tomb of the unknown soldier. I cannot abide that at all. I haven't been able to find any video of that.
