That's in NYC, but I'm sure it's playing out in cities all over the country. The illegals are crammed into dormitories like sardines. I had wondered how bad it must be for them to be sleeping wall to wall with people they don't know, with nothing to do and no prospects for their future. I hadn't contemplated what it must be like for cops to come into the middle of a melee in one of them.
Chalk up another reason to leave the NYPD or similar police department.
Meanwhile, the hotel owners have 100%+ occupancy and the NGOs, particularly Catholic Charities, are making money hand over fist operating these prisons hostels.
Speaking of prisons, Alabama's are supposed to be awful, but I can't imagine they're nearly as bad as this.

NYC is scrounging to solve a few of their logistical problems, but they clearly have no plan to deal with unrest within these encampments.
They've got barbarians inside the city gates. 170,000 of them. Historically, that's worked out pretty poorly for the cities concerned.
