With Just A Little Bit Of Work

... we can get her back at sea again!

Bon Secour, AL is full of boats just like this. My bet is that every hurricane cripples a bunch of them and then the hulks are left to rot. I'm fascinated by them. I'd love to buy one like this and see if I could restore it. What fun!

Wuhan Flu Update

I got my second shot yesterday and am feeling a bit blargulous today. I'll be sure to consult Dr. Fauci and follow his guidance.

As far as I know, I should shouldn't should shouldn't should shouldn't should shouldn't wear a mask.

  1. Yes, restoring an old boat looks like fun, but be careful. They are a trap for the unwary. If it's been abandoned, you shouldn't have to pay anything for it. Maybe a $1 for the title. Remember, a boat is a hole in the water for you to pour your money in.

  2. Thanks, Chuck. I live in San Diego and these boats are all far away in Alabama, so I'm not at risk. I owned a 26' sloop for a while and loved it, but I won't be buying any more boats unless I move to Dixie.

  3. By the way, I did some figgerin' and decided that I'd be better off renting a sailboat 3 times a month here in San Diego than buying one. Once you considered slip fees, repairs, insurance, purchase price and the rest, I could rent one 3-4 times a month for the same price. Then, when I got tired of it or the weather was lousy or I was off doing something else, I wouldn't be throwing money into that hole in the water.
