Stop Making Them Angry!

A black dude, wanted by the cops for murder, offed himself in Minneapolis yesterday. Word got out that the cops had shot him. The word was wrong, of course, but it hardly mattered. The righteous anger found outlets in various commercial outlets and a good time was had by all.

The one thing we know for sure is that their righteous anger is righteous. They are the victims of systemic racism and you are the beneficiaries of said systemic racism. Until you atone for your sins and stop beneficiating in a systemic way, this is going to continue.

Clearly, we need to come together and solve this in unity and justice. I have a simple suggestion.

The next time there is rioting, looting and burning, all of the rest of us need to drop what we're doing and attend social justice training. Until we have changed and our behavior is modified to be more socially just, our cities will burn.

If it happens more than once, then we will need to go to training more than once. I'm serious here. Since this is our fault, we need to take responsibility for it.

By my count, we're down about three dozen training sessions. As Kamala Harris said, it's time to do the hard work of getting rid of systemic racism.

See you in class.

  1. I quite literally just shared this picture over at Sarah's place-- because of the Elfland thing-- but the title made me think it's timely otherwise, too:

  2. I’m waiting for the first group of white men, forced to take white fragility training (or equivalent), who decide to sue for harassment as it created a hostile work environment. I don’t see how they could lose.
