Minneapolis riot summary: Some guy you've never met got into an altercation with another guy you've never met. One of them died. Because of this, we're rallying tribal groups and Minneapolis is being sacked. Other cities are suffering some amount of looting and destruction.
Yep, that makes sense to me.
The police were called because George Floyd had passed a counterfeit $20 at a grocery store. And, it turns out, the cop who murdered him may well have known him.
ReplyDeleteHere are a few possibilities for how that came to be --
* IT WASN'T ACTUALLYa counterfeit $20 --
- the store clerk was mistaken;
* HE DIDN'T KNOW the $20 was counterfeit --
- he received it as change from a different store;
- he had done some work for someone and had been paid with the counterfeit;
- he had sold an EBT card for cash and had been paid with the counterfeit;
* HE DID KNOW the $20 was counterfeit --
- he was involved in a counterfeiting ring;
+ both he *and* the cop were involved in a counterfeiting ring;
+ and, the cop murdered him to hide the counterfeiting ring;
=====
STILL, it is beyond odd that someone who *knowingly* passed a counterfeit $20 would still be sitting around in a mini-van when the police arrived.
As far as I can tell, none of the cops involved have a history of racism. If this was an inappropriate use of force, it was just two guys, not a white guy and a black guy.
ReplyDeleteMinneapolis (and Minnesota) have a lack of leadership. The Minneapolis Police have been a disaster for years. And racial tension has been building for years.
ReplyDeleteThe first night was protests. Since then has been organized anarchists. The Governor also is blaming drug cartels and white supremacists. There has been reference to Antifa in the media, but the Governor and won't say that.
We are in a war now, they used this murder as a catalyst to start it. Nothing happening now has anything to do with the murder.
The cop at the center of this lived 3 blocks from my house. He moved there a couple years ago at most. We walked past it yesterday afternoon. "Kill Pigs" was painted on the garage door.
We almost left Thursday night, but because of Covid, we really have no place to go.
Last night, the National Guard was overwhelmed by organized superior numbers in multiple locations.
The Mayor, City Council, Governor have all failed. The Attorney General has come out in support of rioting.
All have to go, they need to resign.
The Mayor of St Paul has been mostly MIA. He needs to go as well.
We are probably just a couple days from Marshall Law.
I'm racismed out. I'm hate-crimed out.
ReplyDeleteI pray God protects you and your family, and your city, MN.
ReplyDeleteMN, I heard that accusation that white supremacists were involved, too. I had expected that, it's reflexive.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you're in that spot. I'd suggest guns and ammo. There's clearly no one there who will protect you.
As for martial law, who declares that? Today, I read that the governor doesn't want the rioters arrested, he just wants them to go home.
Prayers for your safety.
Watching a press conference currently on local TV.
ReplyDeleteThe Governor and both Mayors, are all in, along with the Commissioner of Public Safty, Guard and State Troopers.
They are finally showing leadership. Mayor Fry looks like he hasn't slept in days. Mayor Carter took a long way around to get to the point, but nailed it.
Outrage over George Floyd's murder and outrage of the violence and destruction are not at odds with each other.
None of the arrests for rioting in St Paul were Minnesota citizens.
"None of the arrests for rioting in St Paul were Minnesota citizens."
ReplyDeleteImagine that.
