"Motive unclear" = We are too politically correct to state the obvious (or possibly, and even worse, we are too stupid to see the obvious).
I know you are rabidly anti-Trump, but I hope you understand that it is his bluntness and willingness to state what he thinks, political correctness be damned, that has earned him a rabid group of followers. I think we can still win this war (and a war it is), but it requires us to state the obvious, and act upon it. Sadly the only public figure willing to do so appears to be Trump.
Indeed -- and I say that as someone who despises, and has always despised, Trump.
But, it's even worse that O@H says, for the others don't simply fail to speak the truth, they actively say the opposite of the truth and try to suppress those of us little people who do say it.
This is from a CBS News article: [Pope] Francis spoke to reporters on the papal plane en route from Rome to Poland. Asked about the slaying of the [French] priest, Francis replied: "It's war, we don't have to be afraid to say this." [There is the good start...]
After greeting reporters on his papal plane he returned to the topic to clarify that when he speaks of war, he is speaking of "a war of interests, for money, resources. ... I am not speaking of a war of religions. Religions don't want war. The others want war." [...and there is the failure to complete the truth.]
I would say that this "clarification" is not simply "failure to complete the truth", but active collusion in suppressing the truth, and actively trying the turn people's eyes away from the truth. For the truth is that it is not "a war of interests, for money, resources" -- those are strictly secondary goals or motivations. Rather, the truth is that it *is* a war of religion; and the truth is that *some* religions do indeed want war, are built upon war.
I heard reports that they were yelling it was in the name of Daesh, which would suggest they're at least French-raised if not French born-- the (attempted) Caliphate will kill anyone who calls them Daesh in their area of control.
It is indeed a religious war and the secular left is one side in the war, even if their leaders are too fat, smug and insulated to see it. Sadly, we have a very feminine pope right now when we need someone who is much more masculine. I miss Benedict.

So close, yet so far...
