In Iran, they hang gays. In Afghanistan, they crush them under collapsing walls. In both places, they do it in the name of Islam.
How many nations have to do it before we say it's normal for them? How many people have to participate in the events before we say it's not extremist, it's just who they are?

ReplyDeleteGood question, Ilion. In a way, we're calling all of the Islamic republics across the globe extremists.
ReplyDeleteThat's it! That's why our President won't say 'radical Islamic terrorism'. He knows that it is not "radical", it is not "extreme", it is mainstream.
ReplyDeleteDespite that the word is typically used to mean "things I dislike or people doing things I dislike", the basic meaning of 'radical' is "root, core or most basic".
ReplyDeleteSo, a "radical Christian" would be a person consciously living to be more Christ-like; and a "radical Moslem" would be a person consciously living to be more Mohammad-like.
