The Messaging War Against ISIS

Well, this provided unintentional, dark hilarity.
The White House has floundered in its attempt to enlist social media companies in the messaging war against ISIL as Washington seeks to counter the terrorist group’s prowess online.
The only "messaging" war that's going to work against ISIS is: We are going to kill you all.

Like this:

Thinking you can fight a war on Twitter. How absurd.

Didn't the cut the Warthog? I think all that's left is Twitter.

  2. having Iraq flashbacks (the good kind)! Worked on A-10s for 10 years. You will never find a more beloved aircraft.

the AF keeps trying to kill the warthog in favor of the JSF, which is an airframe that hasn't completed one mission. the army, for whatever reason, has some leverage and are keeping my beloved plane alive.

ISIS will not be defeated with drones, or hashtags, or shaming, or hurt feelings. Close air support with men on the ground will wipe them out. One would think upper management has learned that from the past 50 years of warfare.

  4. Even if Twitter were a warfighting platform worthy of taking seriously, the American contingent is mostly imaginary:

[Obama's] sizable Twitter following [h]as the most deceptive total among the 21 most influential accounts run by American politicians: More than 19.5 million of his 36.9 million Twitter followers are accounts that don't correspond to real people. The four phoniest accounts in the sample, which included Democratic and Republican Party leaders in Washington, D.C., were those belonging to President Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, first lady Michelle Obama and the White House communications shop.
