It looks like you have plenty of moisture up in the air, though. I take it that there just isn't anything to wring the water out of the air until it hits the mountains?
(Our moisture gets wrung out by the battle between warm and cold air masses. Do the mountains block cold fronts from coming through to do the same for you?)
I sometimes complain about all the rain we get here in the Midwest ... but, when you get right down to it, I do prefer green to sand.
