It's close, but I apparently speak more like an Iowan than a Michigander (although it shows I'm pretty similar to speakers all the way from upstate New York to the Pacific Northwest, and south to Kansas.)
That was a fun quiz. My map is pretty dark red from Western NY all the way across to Seattle. Then it gets orangish heading south in the west. Fairly yellow in Texas. And blue in the south. yellow in Florida. The NY city area is dark blue.
It came out like International Falls Minn (or really anywhere in North Dakota, Minn, or Wisconsin), plus one dark red pixel right where I'm actually from in NE Ohio.
Scary... I clicked it and did the questions with more than a bit of skepticism. When it finished, it nailed my childhood. My Mom's family is from the NJ side of NYC, and my Dad's from the Long Island side. I grew up outside Philly. I had deep hotspots on Newark and Philly, and nothing on Long Island... guess it knew we saw my Mom's family more. Curiously, no traces of the other places I've lived or live now.

ReplyDeleteIt was pretty obvious that I was from Massachusetts.

ReplyDeleteIn short, I speak right. ;-)
I am definitely Midwestern, like the born and bred Midwesterner I am.

ReplyDeletePretty good.
My whole map was red! But my closest matches were from Northern California. I lived there from ages 12-24.
