No Graffiti

Look through these pictures and that's one of the things that jumps out at you.

  1. Well, to be fair, aerosol spray-paint had yet to be invented.

    Another thing that sticks out is the frequent billowing clouds of black smoke.

  3. Hey, #044 looks like it was taken less than a half-mile from where I'm sitting right now! (Houghton, MI, Loading Copper). We have one of those hand-trucks they were using still kicking around the building somewhere, too.

    The wharves they are using have now mostly been converted to docks for small boats, although one of them has been kept in condition for big boats like the Coast Guard buoy-tender, and the occasional cruise ship from Canada.

  4. I thought all of the photos were gorgeous. As for the spry paint, yeah, that's true. Still, it was great to see cities that hadn't been vandalized.
