My daughter made the first cut for her high school soccer team. There's one more tryout session today and then the final cuts are tomorrow. Prayers are welcome!
Incidentally, it sounds like getting on your teams is way more competitive than it is in rural areas like this one. At the local schools, they sometimes have to scrape just to get enough people together to field a team at all[1]. The main criterion for making the team appears to be whether or not you are able to move under your own power.

Tim, this school is moderately competitive for our area. The varsity and JV teams tried out together. About 45 girls showed up and this did not include the girls whose Fall sports were in championships who were held back to prevent injuries. I'm guessing that in total, about 20 girls will end up being cut.
At this school, unless you are a very gifted natural athlete, you're not going to make the soccer team unless you've been playing club (not recreational) soccer.
At the Catholic school my daughter wanted to go to, you weren't going to make the team unless you were playing club soccer at the premier level and even then, some of the girls were going home.
