Italian Patriotism

The Italian flag is everywhere as are caps emblazoned Italia and all manner of other patriotic emblems. It's natural and accepted and wonderful.

    Is visible patriotism the natural state of Italy, or is it because this year is the 150th anniversary of Italian unification? Isn't this rather like visiting the US during the Bicentennial?
