Last summer, when we took a weekend trip to Green Bay, we got a bit of a surprise: Pelicans! Flying over downtown!
Up until that point, I had no idea that pelicans came that far north (which is only about 200 miles south of us). I gather that this is a relatively new thing, they didn't used to commonly nest in Wisconsin. If they really get established, it is just barely possible we might start seeing pelicans around Houghton sometime in my lifetime.
