I've been told that the style of the classic "Haunted House" comes from the many turn-of-the-century mansions that were built and abandoned in the *last* housing bubble/crash, part of the "Long Depression" of 1873-96. This could be one of them.
I wonder if the classic "Haunted House" of the next 50 years is going to be an abandoned "McMansion"? Or does modern architecture not lend itself to looking properly haunted?
The funny thing was, someone seemed to be living there! We pulled into the driveway to get this shot and then saw a nice, white pickup truck parked in the back. We high-tailed it out of there before the shotgun poked out of one of the windows.
Saw one like that in downtown DC Sunday night.

Senor...
ReplyDeleteCome on. That's where Christine O'Donnell lives.
Can't see just what state it's in but I'd love to have that and fix it up, restore the gardens.
ReplyDeleteWas the house derelict?
