A Contrast

Barf.
March 2 (Bloomberg) -- Baseball player Barry Bonds lost a bid to show jurors nude photos of his former mistress in Playboy at his March 21 perjury trial, while a judge said she will let allow testimony from Bonds’s private doctor and other players who took steroids.
Sigh.

Can we go back to a time of elegance and grace, please?

  1. We have Breakfast at Tiffany's on DVD. Doesn't matter, it came on a month ago or so. I watched, and recorded it, and watched it again.

There isn't an actress since that can compare.

  2. I confess that I've never actually seen "Breakfast at Tiffany's". So, I went and read the plot synopsis on Wikipedia.

    Yeep.

I suppose the "elegance and grace" don't translate into a brief text summary very well.

  3. I have to admit I've never seen the movie. Unless the movie features her covered with Crisco and doing it with two donkeys and an orangutan, she'd be hard-pressed to rival today's movies in terms of crudeness.

So, yes, I'll give the nod to Audrey over, say, Lady Gaga.

  4. It never really existed, but at least in the past we pretended it did.

  5. It is the story of a 'party girl'. And how that life is self destructive. And how she learns from her mistakes in the end. The 'boy toy' learns a little earlier than she.

Perhaps I should have mentioned 'Charade' instead. A May-October romance. Or Sabrina, Sam thing.

Today's movies celebrate the self destructive life style with no consequences. These movies did not.

  6. Kelly, perhaps but consider...

Hepburn became one of the most successful film actresses in the world and performed with notable leading men such as Gregory Peck, Rex Harrison, Humphrey Bogart, Gary Cooper, Cary Grant, Henry Fonda, William Holden, Burt Lancaster, Fred Astaire, James Garner, Peter O'Toole and Albert Finney.

Name me an equivalent line-up of current male actors.

That's the Dude's Dudes Round Table.

  7. Grace Kelly was a beautiful, classy angel but I have a soft spot for Audrey Hepburn. She was gorgeous, gracious and had incredible style. She was an exceptionally decent and charitable human being. Breakfast at Tiffany's is a classic and will always be just that.
