"We whupped their behind up and down the field," he said. "They can't stand up with us. And we beat ourselves for the second week in a row. We've got to change that."Last night's MNF game between the Saints and the Niners was a display of total overthinking by San Francisco. By the middle of the third quarter, the Saints defense was totally exhausted and couldn't stop Frank Gore at all. The plan for victory for the Niners was simple. Run Frank Gore. Instead, they passed and were intercepted, tried for punt returns and fumbled and did everything except run Frank Gore.
Gore did his part, rushing for a game-high 112 yards on 20 carries with one touchdown, a 7-yard run that put the 49ers in position to tie the score with a two-point conversion...
"You watched the game tonight. What'd they do? Nothing. They didn't do anything. We beat ourselves," he said.
I'm happy with the result, but couldn't believe the Niners could be that stupid.
- Get ball.
- Hand ball to Frank Gore.
- Let Frank Gore run with the ball.
Now that is an inconvenient truth.
ReplyDeleteI love Frank Gore. Word around the campfire is that even on a Miami team that also included Willis McGahee, Jonathan Vilma, Ed Reed, Philip Buchanon, Clinton Portis, Jeremy Shockey, the late great Sean Taylor and a few other current NFL starters, Frank Gore was pretty much the baddest man on the planet.
Would it be safe to call Frank Gore, the "Shaft" of the NFL?
Thanks for posting this. Solid sports takes from folks who normally don't blog about sports warms my heart.
