If the rat-faced conservative Rethuglicans had the presidency and the legislature and managed to set up the housing crash and then the commie pinko Dumbocrats got the presidency and the legislature and manage to drive us to inflation, high unemployment and global war-sized deficits, who do we blame then? What will be on our protest signs and blogs?
Once every electable person has been tried out and failed and each one of them in turn has been caricatured as Hitler / Marx / a monkey, then what? Where will we look for villains to blame?
Obama's policies are failing because they haven't really been tried. We need far more spending. Then it will work.
ReplyDeleteAmen! About eight grazillion dollars should do the trick.
ReplyDelete@Jeff Burton: Ah, you remind me of then old 'Communism has never really been tried' meme. Good to hear a variant trotted out again.
ReplyDeleteThe great thing about your argument Jeff is that you can never be proved wrong. Spent 100 billion trillion gazillion dollars? Economy still in a mess? Well, you obviously didn't spend enough!
Enlighten us - could you put a figure on the amount we should spend, and if it still doesn't work, then the policy is proved to be a crock of sh1t? Just for future reference.
Jim, Jeff was being comical. He doesn't really think we need to spend more. Jeff's a pretty smart fellow.
ReplyDeleteMy bad! I always was too literal.
ReplyDeleteNo worries. Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteExcept it was Jimmy Carter who set up the Community Re-investment Act, Clinton who expanded its powers and Democrats like Barney Frank along with Acorn who enforced the lending to unqualified buyers. The Republicans tried to rein them in but were blocked in the House by the Dems.
ReplyDeleteNow, believe it or not, they are trying again to expand it.
We only have ourselves to blame for voting for those who pander to us with fairy tales like "We can vastly expand health care at no extra cost" or "I've Abandoned Free Market Principles to Save the Free Market System>"
ReplyDeleteA bit more info on the CRA.
ReplyDeleteYea sure ligneus, a bunch of poor black people buying homes they couldnt afford is what brought Wall Street to its knees.
ReplyDeletePlease tell me you're not that much of an idiot.
Homer,
ReplyDeleteWho said they were black? Only you chose to be racist about this issue.
