Barack Obama's New Theme Song

In wandering about the blogosphere reading reactions to Barack's backpeddling on offshore drilling, one thought keeps coming into my head. What in the world do the House and Senate Democrats do now? They just threw themselves into the wood chipper in defense of a continued ban on offshore drilling. The Republicans made a total spectacle of the event. Nancy Pelosi has been going around talking about how she's trying to save the planet by keeping the waters free of potential massive oil spills from drilling rigs.

Our friend, the Secular Apostate, was the first to make this connection and also wonders which planet Nancy was trying to save, but that's a topic for another day. (Here at the 'Post, our money is on Jupiter. It's so big and orange and pretty, you know.)

Meanwhile, Obama moistens his finger, sticks it into the political winds and then shoves a dagger right in their backs. With that in mind, I've got a new theme song for Barack, one that can be sung by all the progressives out there. Enjoy.

Side note: I love the Chiffons. I did some research on them and their story is really cool. They were four teenage girls from a high school in the Bronx. Their voices are just angelic. A best of the Chiffons CD is definitely in my future. Here's a wonderful video from a recent Chiffons concert starring their original lead singer, Judy Craig. She looks like she's having a load of fun and wants you to have fun, too.

Other sites weighing in on this:
Tennessee Guerilla Women are pretty ticked.
Progressives Against Obama are, well, against the whole thing.
Matt Stoller is unhappy. Matt alertly makes the connection with Pelosi's self-destruction over this issue.
Chris Bowers sees this as a bad political move. Chris seemed to think the Berlin speech was a good thing - he may not have seen Barack's polls nosediving since il Duce the Messiah The One the Democratic nominee spoke there.
jclifford thinks Obama is all about change. The wrong kind of change.
