I don't really see how, given the inherent security problems of email, anybody at the state department has any business using even "official" email.tim eiselehttp://somethingscrawlinginmyhair.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22301740.post-2417565347082343462016-03-11T13:56:08.796-08:002016-03-11T13:56:08.796-08:00Tim, it's a good bet that lifetime State emplo...Tim, it's a good bet that lifetime State employees wanted to throw up when they found out about the server. I've been told over and over by my friends who work with computer security that email is about as secure as passing unsealed notes across a crowded room. Without strong encryption you might just as well shout information from the hilltops as entrust it to email, and even with encryption the unencrypted plaintext can't be stored *anywhere* if you want to keep it secure.

So why is the Department of State even allowing email, at all, for any but the most innocuous and public-knowledge messages? tim eiselehttp://somethingscrawlinginmyhair.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22301740.post-23709590384282652016-03-11T11:37:35.697-08:002016-03-11T11:37:35.697-08:00There's a pile of felonies rotting on her lawn...There's a pile of felonies rotting on her lawn.
