Pop quiz question: Why did sports leagues used to ban political statements and actions during events associated with their leagues?
Pop's Answer: First, it could alienate customers. Second, it had nothing to do with the product being sold. Third, you lost control of your brand if you associated it with something outside of your sport.
It's the third one that blows my mind today. What happened over the weekend was perfectly predictable. The left has been shouting about institutional racism and cops killing black people for no reason for quite some time now. Well, over the weekend, someone decided to take revenge for the mythical, racist, police brutality.

Because the NFL decided to hitch their wagons to Black Lives Matter, they've managed to get entangled in this shooting as well as the riots in Lancaster over the weekend. Those broke out when a knife-wielding Maniac of Color (MoC) rushed at a cop and got shot for his troubles.

Even before this, sports found itself under water in terms of positive and negative views. Sports found itself underwater. It was also seen less favorably than lawyers. Lawyers.

Like I said, all of this was all perfectly predictable.
Clearly, Nostradamus is indeed dead.
Bonus Thought: Now that they've opened this particular Pandora's Box, I don't see how they can get themselves out of this predicament. If they try to go back to the old, sports-only ways, a whole bunch of players will be upset and the progressive news media will rip them to pieces.
What a mess.

The list itself has more interesting stuff in it. Two things in particular jump out at me.
First, the movie industry is also below lawyers.
Second, the federal government is dead last, but BLM, ANTIFA, and all the democrats / socialists / communists want us to help them put the federal government in charge of all aspects of our life. Yeah that should garner lots of support.
People are also finding out about the riots in Kenosha being in support of a violent rapist.
