My Head Hurts

... from pondering the contradictory messages at the Democratic debates.
  1. This country is horrible, racist, unjust, racist, needs to be fundamentally transformed and racist.
  2. We need to be compassionate to the millions and millions of People of Color who go through great effort to flee their countries and come to this one.
Dear Democratic candidates, please stop talking.
Please.
Stop.

I think the big problem with these "debates" of 10-20 people is that they are all desperate to come up with something outrageous enough that they will get on the news. Ideally they want completely positive coverage that makes everyone like them, but even coverage that makes half the population despise them is better than no coverage at all. Being completely ignored is political death.

The only way I can see of getting a decent candidate out of this poorly-thought-out debacle, is to have something happen analogous to what happened in the Short Track Speed Skating at the Winter Olympics some years ago: the leader wipes out, and takes down pretty much everyone else in the process. And then the guy who was pooting along in last place can just skate around the whole mess and win the gold medal.

Wow, the Olympics event I was thinking of was longer ago than I thought:

Is it that the Dems just don't have anyone or are potential serious candidates keeping their powder dry for 2020? I'm sure that's what Hillary is doing.

Tim, LOL!

I've become convinced that the Democrats have become a religious cult centered around racism and, to a lesser extent, other identities. The evidence is that evidence doesn't shake their belief system. Witness the Baltimore debate that went on recently. Baltimore is majority black and run by Democrats, but that doesn't even slow them down as they chant their incantation, "Racism! Racism! Racism!"

This isn't a feature or a bug, it's the real deal. They really believe this catechism.
