Read The Whole Thing

What does it mean when half the country—literally half the country—understands that the revenue-gathering arm of its federal government is politically corrupt, sees them as targets, and will shoot at them if they try to raise their heads? That is the kind of thing that can kill a country, letting half its citizens believe that they no longer have full political rights.

Something that I think people are glossing over about this, too, is the motivation of the IRS in all this. Personally, I think that the IRS was not intentionally targeting the enemies of the President, or of the Democratic Party - they were targeting the enemies of the IRS. Who, at the moment, have a lot of overlap with the enemies of the President/Democrats, but that may not necessarily be true in the future.

The minute any Democrats start leaning on the IRS in ways that the IRS doesn't like, then they and their supporters may be joining the enemies list. The things the IRS has been doing are a danger to all parties, not just to Republicans.

What does it mean? It means that an unaccountable bureaucracy is putting us on the road to Chavez style dictatorship. This is how it starts. It reminds of the scene in The Phantom Menace (Star Wars Episode I) where Palpatine whispers to Queen Amidala "Enter the bureaucrats, the true rulers of the Republic." In fact, this is Obama's and Holder's excuse for all the scandalabra; the government is just so big, we can't really know what we are signing off on. If we are to preserve the Republic, accountability and Congressional oversight must be asserted over the IRS.

B-Daddy, there can be no accountability in an organization the size of the Federal government. Oh sure, it can be done on paper with flow charts, arrows and boxes, but in practice, it has never happened.
