What Happens When You Run Out Of "Adjustments"?

After I put up this post with this chart:

The black line is the adjustment factor used to manufacture warming from data that doesn't show it.

I began to wonder what would happen when they ran out of "adjustments" to make? That is, you can't "adjust" the data endlessly. While you might be able to make a case for one or two jolts to the data to show an increase, if you did this year after year in a short while you'd have to explain why you thought the thermometer in Boise, Idaho was off by 13.4 degrees. The cumulative adjustments would quickly become ludicrous and the whole charade would be over.

In the last 10 years, even the global warming fanatics have had to admit there has been global cooling. Is that due to them running out of "adjustments" to the data?

Meanwhile, Lord Monkton has done a pretty thorough job going through the various frauds and crooks involved in this shakedown. The video's a bit long, but I thought it was worthwhile.

Please look at this. It shows that the "hockey stick" is a great example of extreme chart range manipulation and clipping. Once you see this, you'll stop shaking your head at the alarmism, and start laughing instead.

Sometimes I wonder what the political reaction would be if the last ice age were ending now, instead of 10,000 years ago. Now *that* was a sea level change. We lost the equivalent of whole *continents* there - Beringia, Wallacea, Sundaland, and Zealandia, for starters.

Of course, we gained Canada, Northern Europe, and Siberia, so it wasn't a total loss.

Jeff, how many times can you bend hockey sticks like that before the whole thing falls apart? OK, so you declared that temperatures shot up like mad over a few years because you used wacky, one-time adjustments. Without more adjustments, the data hasn't been going anywhere for the last 10 years.

Now what? More adjustments?

Tim, we'd be burning our forests to the ground if we thought that would heat things up.

You guys just don't see the value in "value added homogenized data?"

Incidentally, I would just like to note that the arguing about whether or not the climate is changing, and whether or not we are causing it, and whether or not it is a problem, kind of reminds me of this:

Hank Scorpio: Good afternoon, gentlemen. This is Scorpio. I have the doomsday device. You have 72 hours to deliver the gold. Or you face the consequences. And to prove I'm not bluffing, watch this...

UN member #2: Maybe it just collapsed on its own.

UN member #1: We can't take that chance.

UN member #2: You always say that. I want to take a chance!
