Heading off to Santa Fe

We're taking off for a long weekend in New Mexico this morning. I'm bringing my schleptop and my Nikon D60 Artillery Piece, so I'm planning to do some photoblogging from the trip. If you've got suggestions for what to see and do in Santa Fe or Taos, leave them in the comments. Right now, the plan is to not do much of anything other than scope out the artist colonies.

"scope out the artist colonies"

Are those anything like ant colonies? Alex Wild has said that the ant colonies in Arizona are pretty interesting.

Well, let's see. They toil all day and they don't earn a whole lot. They're creations are subtly beautiful.

Yep! Sounds like them!

(Thanks for the link to the ant colony post.)

It depends on how much time you have.

If you're flying into Albuquerque, consider driving about an hour east to the Acoma pueblo. That is a good half day outing, but well worth it for the uniqueness of the place.

Taos:
1. Taos Pueblo
2. On the way up to Taos consider taking the "high" road. It winds through a number of villages.

Santa Fe:
1. Plaza and surrounding museums
2. there is a Catholic church just off the plaza with a wooden spiral staircase made from a single piece of wood.
3. 10.000 waves Japanese spa. Get a private tub.
