Obama as God

From his victory speech last night:
I am absolutely certain that, generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless, this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal…
...and then he touched the lame man and the lame man did rise and walk from his bed...

I'm convinced our country has gone insane.

No, the country has not gone insane.

The Obama thing is a classic case of "wish fullfilment" (the symbolic attainment, in the form of dreams, fantasies, etc., of an often unconscious wish or impulse). In this case it is that everyone would like our problems to be so simple that they can be cured by wishing, talking, or having other people pay for them (which appear to be his only plans).

I suspect that by the time we get to November, folks will move from their waking dream state to reality.

naw, he didn't really say that. I mean, someone that would actually be that full of themselves would probably also come up with a narcisstic campaign slogan like... like, "We are the people, we've been waiting for"... or something similarly elitist and self-absorbed.

quit pulling our leg, KT.

Dear KT Cat:

I have to come down on the side of commenter Rose. Our nation has gone insane. We are heading somewhere as a people and as a nation, but where? Dante knows but he is not telling.
